This demonstration will guide you through the process of submitting a Framingham Heart Study (FHS) research application, also known as an FHS research proposal, using a general example of an FHS brain tissue request.
FHS Research Proposalโ
In order to initiate the FHS data request process, you must have an approved FHS research proposal. Check with the FHS team you are collaborating with. If your research project is part of an existing approved FHS research proposal, you may skip this section. To submit a proposal, go to https://wwwapp.bumc.bu.edu/fhsresapp
- Create a user account. It may take up to 1-2 weeks before you are granted access to your account. If you are a returning research collaborator, simply log into your account.
- Once you log in, click on the โCreate a new data applicationโ.
- Enter all the information that is required for your research proposal.
- Once you submit your proposal, you will receive a confirmation notification. You will need to wait for a few weeks for the FHS respective committees to review and come to a decision.
- If you request for biological specimens, your proposal need to be approved by the respective committee
- Likewise, for any request involving genetic information, a decision must come from FHS DNA committee
